The mission of the delegation from Germany was to promote the Congress-Bundestag Scholarship. Members of the German Bundestag (Parliament) were in various U.S. cities to encourage students to apply for the scholarship which offers students the opportunity to study for a full year abroad, live with a host family and attend language courses and a German high school. All program costs are paid in full and the approximate value of the scholarship is over $13,000.
NTHS was chosen because of its strong German program, its exchange program with its partner school near Hamburg, Germany and the fact that more students from NTHS have won the Congress-Bundestag Scholarship than any other high school in Western New York.
Past winners of the scholarship include NTHS graduates Lisa Heim, Cody LaRocque, Jason Offerman, Nicole Schmidt and Mallory Young. This year, NTHS has another winner, Katlyn Brown, who will spend the 2011-12 school year in Germany.
