    Drawing and Painting

    This is a 40 week course and is 1 art credit. Studio in Art is the pre-requisite for this course.

    This class emphasizes drawing and painting techniques and concepts stressing the importance of composition based on the Elements and Principles of Design. Students will explore different medium, such as graphite, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, and acrylics. Special attention will also be given to art history and appreciation. Students will be encouraged to develop their own ideas in unique, creative, and original ways and to create works of art for a college portfolio. 

    Anyone willing to put forth good effort can get a good grade in Advanced Drawing and Painting. Criteria for each project will be posted and students will know exactly what it takes to get an "A" for each assignment. Grades will be given on preliminary work, written reflections, final projects, sketch books, and quizzes. A final exam will count as 1/5 toward the final grade.

    Supplies needed for the class: Please bring in a 9"x12" spiral bound sketch book, a pocket folder, 2B charcoal pencil, kneaded eraser, white eraser, and set of drawing pencils. These are to be left in class. You will also need a fine and ultra fine black sharpie permanent marker.

    RULES: In order to make our class experiences the best for everyone in the room, we have rules in place. The consequences for breaking the rules are: 1. my detention after school 2. Failure to show up will receive a written referral to the principal. If the unacceptable behavior continues, this will result in a phone call home and administrative action. 

    The rules are easy: 

    1. Listen attentively while others are talking.

    2. Follow directions the first time they are given.

    3. Show respect to people, for supplies and the environment at ALL times.

    4. Come to class prepared.

    5. Work productively, quietly and responsibly during the ENTIRE class period.
